SUMMARY:Community Tree Planting on the Farm Loop — Sat 29th August | 9:30AM
  - 1:30PM
DESCRIPTION:Come and help us plant the first chapter of the Mangaroa Fruit
& Forage walking track. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our communi
ty\, and matched support through the Ma Earth Fund\, we're excited to begi
n bringing this vision to life. Over the coming years\, our 4km farm loop
will become an edible landscape filled with heritage fruit trees\, nuts\,
berries\, medicinal plants\, and foraging species. A place of abundance\,
learning\, biodiversity\, and community for generations to come. It felt o
nly right that a trail for the community\, funded by the community\, could
also be planted by the community. Before we get planting\, local tree cro
p legends Hannah Dawson and Eric Cairns will share a few practical tips an
d some of the wisdom behind heritage fruit trees and long-term orchard est
ablishment. Then we'll roll up our sleeves and begin planting the first se
ction of what we hope becomes one of Mangaroa's most loved spaces. What to
  bring:🥾 Sturdy footwear🌦 Weather-appropriate clothing💧 Water bottle🪏
A spade if you have one Whether you're sponsoring a tree\, curious about t
he project\, or simply keen to spend a morning outdoors doing something wo
rthwhile\, we'd love to have you with us. We will begin at Sat 29th August
  | 9:30am at the Mangaroa Event Space at 298 Whitemans Valley Road. We'll
wrap up around 1:30pm with some Mangaroa kai\, good yarns\, and a chance t
o celebrate the beginning of something special. Any questions\, please ema

looking at the early spring foraging\, explore fresh roots and and a range
of medicinal and edible plants. The walk is pram friendly\, and will be a
bout 1 hour. Price is per family. Please park in the paddock beside the sh
op and meet under the farm shop shelter. Wet weather. We will notify if we
need to cancel within 48 hours\, if the weather is too wet we have altern
ative locations and we may choose to make food from foraged plants instead
. However if it’s too wet and cold we will likely cancel and you can join
the following month. Please email hannah@earthschool.nz for any questions.
